Twin Cities Villages
Marin Villages' mission is to help older adults remain independent in their own homes and communities, with dignity and grace. Through its volunteer network, Marin Villages supports seniors to stay active, connected and at home. Members can participate in activities such as physical fitness classes, art workshops, movies, speaker series, tours of cultural venues, coffee meetings, sing-a-longs, and lectures about senior services in Marin County. Activites take place in Larkspur and Corte Madera, and transportation can be arranged if needed.

Age Friendly Corte Madera


Age-Friendly Corte Madera is dedicated to creating physical and social environments that support and enhance healthy and active aging, and an optimal quality of life for older residents. Age-Friendly Corte Madera partners with Twin Cities Village, and Larkspur and Corte Madera City Recreation Departments to provide information, services and activities for seniors in the twin cities. 

Corte Madera Age Friendly Intergenerational Center

Corte Madera’s Intergenerational Center was created to provide a space for seniors and teens to gather together to interact in innovative, enrichment programs for all ages. The Intergenerational Center programs create part-time job opportunities, paid or volunteer, for those with special interests who may like to teach a certain skill or simply volunteer. Programs at The Center include Chair Yoga, 3D Printing, Drawing and Watercolors, Reading to Preschoolers, Tune Time, Movie/Book Club, AgeSong, space for a game of Bridge or MahJong, jigsaw puzzle and more. "Ask Jody" features Jody Timms who is an authority on resources available to the older adult. Twice a month, she'll be at The Center to advise and provide individuals with information on home health care, financial aid, transportation, activities or other needs that you may have. 


Marin County Health and Human Services

Aging and Adult Services provides a multi-disciplinary system of services and supports for older adults and persons with disabilities to promote quality of life and independence. Funding comes from the federal U.S. and California State governments and the County of Marin. Social workers are available to answer questions about and direct clients to available senior services to help with housing, health, long-term and in-home care, nutrition and food assistance, transportation, and legal issues. Call the Aging and Adult Information and Assistance Line at 415-457-INFO (415-457-4636) to speak with a representative. The Marin County County Community Resource Guide acts as a directory of local organizations and support groups who provide assistance in the above-mentioned categories.

Whistlestop
Located at 930 Tamalpais Avenue in San Rafael, Whistlestop promotes the independence, well-being and quality of life for older adults and people living with disabilities in Marin County. Whistlestop’s Active Aging Center provides delicious meals, educational classes, multicultural gatherings and helpful information and referral services. Whistlestop also provides special needs transportation services through Marin Access, a partnership of Whistlestop, Marin Transit and Golden Gate Transit.

Alzheimer's Association
 Visit the Alzheimer's Association for information about Alzheimer's disease, treatment and care suggestions, as well as reference resources and local chapter programs and support. 

HelpGuide.org
HelpGuide is a non-profit organization composed of health professionals dedicated to mental and emotional health and wellness. They provide resources, information and guidance about Alzheimer's and dementia, depression and other mental health issues. HelpGuide covers treatment, social and emotional welfare, and life skills guidance. 

Paying for Senior Care
The PayingforSeniorCare.com website and the Eldercare Financial Resource Locator Tool were created and are maintained by the American Elder Care Research Organization. The organization’s mission is to assist individuals in the planning and implementing of long-term senior care. The website is designed to help families and caregivers locate information about long-term care resources for their loved ones, and to find the public and private programs available to assist in covering the cost of such care.

California State Department of Social Services Adult Services
The California State Department of Social Services Adult Services program provides assistance and resources for adults in need of protective services, in-home support or long term care.

Transportation
  • Marin Transit: Public bus service throughout Marin County ; discounts available for the disabled and seniors
  • Marin Access ADA Paratransit:  provides door-to-door service to Marin residents who are certified unable to ride fixed route transit
  • Blind and Vision Impaired of Marin Transportation Program: volunteer drivers, BVIM emergency taxi service, and Whistlestop Wheels work together to get seniors where they need to go. Phone (415) 459-5066 for more information.

Veterans Services
Senior Veteran's Service Alliance : a not for profit corporation that supports veteran members and sponsors eldercare related businesses across the United States. The alliance helps veterans and their survivors understand VA benefits available to them, and can also help veterans with their VA claims, Eldercare services are also referenced on the site, such as Assisted Living, Geriatric Care Managment, Elder Law, Estate and End of Life Planning, Home Care, Financial Planning, Home Care, Medicaid Planning, Placement Management and Tax Planning.
